My jewellery is about exploration and discovery using ancient techniques in contemporary design and combining new materials, stones and precious metals in innovative ways. I started my career in Fine Art Painting and still find colour is a major influence in my jewellery work today. Walking the moors and the coastal paths of Cornwall I absorb the subtle hues of the sea and landscape which I then translate through my jewellery. To incorporate colour into my designs I often use enamel, adding vibrancy into semi hidden areas. Niobium is one of the rare metals that I use in combination with precious metals to add contrast with deep blues and greys. Much of my inspiration comes from the beautiful precious and semi precious stones I source and around which I design unique pieces of jewellery. In addition to my jewellery design I teach on the new Silversmithing & Jewellery Degree at Truro College and am Course Leader for the Foundation Degree in Silversmithing & Jewellery, these being the only specialist courses in Cornwall. I also work to commission, designing exclusive jewellery, including engagement and wedding rings, to provide a very personal and tailored service. Price range: £60 - £1000 |
